The taxable value of property in Saratoga rose 5.70% this year to about $23.6 billion, according to the annual report Santa Clara County Assessor Neysa Fligor released Monday.
That growth beat the countywide increase of 4.74% and placed Saratoga in the top five of the county's 15 cities, behind Sunnyvale at 7.17%, Los Altos at 6.43%, and Los Altos Hills and Monte Sereno at 5.71% each. The report credits cities with a larger share of homes for leading the list. Mountain View finished last at 2.93%.
Countywide, the 2026-27 roll reached about $760.1 billion. Saratoga accounts for 3.1% of it.
Home sales drive the gain
Most of Saratoga's added value came from property changing hands. Sales and other ownership changes added about $726 million to the city's roll across 419 parcels, about $672 million of it from 390 single-family homes. That is down from roughly $804 million a year earlier.
New construction added another $131.4 million on 370 parcels, nearly all of it single-family work. The year before, construction added about $136 million.
In her annual message on the county as a whole, Fligor noted that "changes of ownership for residential properties continue to be the strongest contributor to growth in value," San Jose Inside reported. Residential reassessments after sales made up 49% of the county's value growth.
