Brock Purdy Throws Four TDs as 49ers Reach 3-0 With 36-30 Win

Brock Purdy threw four touchdown passes Sunday, lifting San Francisco past Arizona 36-30 at Levi's Stadium and keeping the 49ers unbeaten at 3-0. Purdy finished 15-of-27 for 297 yards. Arizona fell to 1-2.

San Francisco opened the scoring with a trick play on its third offensive snap. Purdy passed to Mike Evans, who lateraled to Deebo Samuel, and Samuel turned the play into an 82-yard touchdown. Evans added a 23-yard scoring catch early in the second quarter.

Chad Ryland made two field goals for Arizona, while Eddy Pineiro gave San Francisco a 17-6 halftime lead with a 57-yard kick.

Christian McCaffrey's 1-yard touchdown run made it 23-6 in the third quarter before Jacoby Brissett's passes to Michael Wilson and Jeremiyah Love brought Arizona within three points. George Kittle caught touchdown passes of 10 and 20 yards, the second with 1:31 remaining to make it 36-27. Kittle had six receptions for 82 yards, McCaffrey rushed for 75 yards, and Fred Warner recorded 17 tackles.

Brissett completed 38 passes on 52 attempts for 280 yards and also ran for a touchdown.

The 49ers lost Evans to a rib injury in the first half. Trent Williams departed with a stinger, and Dre Greenlaw left because of a quadriceps injury, the Associated Press reported. San Francisco also began without Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson.
