A local branch of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America will host a free Ukrainian Cultural Festival in Saratoga on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The event, titled "The Spirit of Freedom," runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Saratoga, 14103 Saratoga Ave. It is organized by UNWLA Branch 107 and is listed on the city's community calendar.

According to the city's listing and the organizers' event page, the festival will include cultural and historical exhibits, traditional clothing and arts, Ukrainian food, artisan vendors, music and programming for families. Admission is free and the event is open to the whole community.

Organizers said it is meant both for people with Ukrainian heritage and for those who want to learn about the culture, and they are taking free registrations through Eventbrite.

Two days later, the Saratoga Community Band will play a joint concert with the West Valley College Symphonic Band on Monday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in McAfee Auditorium at Saratoga High School, 20300 Herriman Ave. The city's calendar says the concert runs until about 9 p.m. and that admission is free.
