Poehling helps Ducks pull away from Flames for a 4-2 victory

Calgary strikes first, but Ducks lead

Calgary's Morgan Frost scored, but Anaheim answered with two goals in the opening period and went on to defeat the Flames 4-2 on Sunday at Scotiabank Saddledome. Ryan Poehling scored once and finished with two points for the Ducks, who improved to 4-1-0 with the victory.

Jackson LaCombe opened the scoring for Anaheim in the first period, converting with assists from Leo Carlsson and Mikael Granlund. Frost tied the game for Calgary with Matt Coronato and Simon Nemec assisting.

Frank Vatrano put the Ducks back in front before the period ended. Ryan Poehling and Noah Warren assisted on Vatrano's goal, leaving Anaheim ahead 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Flames level game in second

Calgary pulled even in the second period when Aydar Suniev scored on a wrist shot. Coronato assisted on the goal, his second assist of the game. The teams entered the third period tied 2-2.

Anaheim settles it in third

Poehling restored Anaheim's lead in the third period, with Pavel Mintyukov assisting. Nikita Nesterenko then added the Ducks' fourth goal, assisted by Alex Killorn and Granlund.

Granlund recorded two assists for Anaheim. Coronato had two assists and two points for Calgary, while Frost scored once for the Flames.

The loss left Calgary with a 0-5-0 record and 0 points. Anaheim finished the game at 4-1-0 with 8 points. The announced attendance at Scotiabank Saddledome was 16,894.
