Oilers score five in second period to beat Ducks 5-2

Beckett Sennecke scored twice for a 2-0 Anaheim lead, but Edmonton answered with five second-period goals, two by Evan Bouchard, at Honda Center on Wednesday.

Fast start for Anaheim

The Anaheim Ducks led the Edmonton Oilers 2-0 after one period Wednesday night, October 7, 2026, at Honda Center, but Edmonton scored five times in the second period and won 5-2.

Beckett Sennecke scored both Anaheim goals in the first period. His first, a snap shot, was assisted by Mikael Granlund and Leo Carlsson. His second came on a tip-in, with assists from Carlsson and Jackson LaCombe.

Five goals in the second

Evan Bouchard cut the lead to 2-1 with a slap shot 11 seconds into the second period, assisted by Leon Draisaitl. Kasperi Kapanen tied it 2-2 on a snap shot from Connor McDavid and Bouchard, and Bouchard put Edmonton ahead 3-2 with another slap shot, set up by Draisaitl and McDavid.

Vasily Podkolzin made it 4-2 on a Draisaitl assist, and McDavid scored with 52 seconds left in the period, assisted by Draisaitl and Mattias Ekholm. Neither team scored in the third.

Leaders

Draisaitl finished with four assists. Bouchard had two goals and an assist, and McDavid had a goal and two assists. Carlsson had two assists for Anaheim.

The Ducks outshot Edmonton 31-19. Devon Levi made 29 saves for the Oilers. Lukas Dostal allowed five goals on 17 shots in about 40 minutes for Anaheim, and Ville Husso stopped both shots he faced in relief.

Anaheim is 2-1-0 with four points, and Edmonton is 3-0-1 with seven points. Attendance was 17,174.
