Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $6.4139 per gallon for regular unleaded on October 2, 2026, according to AAA, down from $6.4176 yesterday. That is up from $6.3090 a week ago but higher than $5.6879 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.4008, while the national average is $4.3961. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 73 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5536, drivers are paying about 186 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $8.6268 per gallon, AAA reported.
