Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $6.3910 per gallon for regular unleaded on October 4, 2026, according to AAA, down from $6.3997 yesterday. That is up from $6.3691 a week ago but higher than $5.7863 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.3889, while the national average is $4.3697. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 60 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5490, drivers are paying about 184 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $8.6226 per gallon, AAA reported.
