Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $6.3893 per gallon for regular unleaded on October 5, 2026, according to AAA, down from $6.3910 yesterday. That is up from $6.3812 a week ago but higher than $5.8095 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.3916, while the national average is $4.3653. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 58 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5578, drivers are paying about 183 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $8.6144 per gallon, AAA reported.
