Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $6.3099 per gallon for regular unleaded on October 9, 2026, according to AAA, down from $6.3304 yesterday. That is down from $6.4139 a week ago and higher than $5.8591 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.3309, while the national average is $4.3718. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 45 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.6008, drivers are paying about 171 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $8.6126 per gallon, AAA reported.
