Golden State’s reserves supplied a 27–7 scoring advantage over the Las Vegas bench Sunday, Oct. 4, helping the Valkyries open their WNBA semifinal series with a 71–60 victory at Chase Center.

Kaitlyn Chen scored 11 points, while Aminata Gueye added nine on 4-for-5 shooting. Seven of Gueye’s points came in the third quarter, according to Golden State’s match report.

The extra scoring support complemented a 25-point, 11-rebound, five-assist performance from Gabby Williams. Kiah Stokes collected 14 rebounds as the Valkyries limited Las Vegas to 33.9 percent shooting.

Golden State leads the best-of-five series 1–0. The next game stays in San Francisco: Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Pacific at Chase Center.

The opener gave Golden State a useful combination, with its leading scorer producing a double-double and the second unit supplying a substantial scoring margin of its own.
