Golden State held off a late Las Vegas comeback Wednesday, Oct. 7, winning 83–81 at Chase Center in San Francisco to move within one victory of the WNBA Finals.
The Valkyries lead the best-of-five semifinal series 2–0 after protecting an advantage they built before halftime. They led 19–11 after the first quarter and 42–31 at the break.
Both teams scored 24 points in the third quarter, leaving Golden State ahead 66–55. Las Vegas cut into that cushion by winning the final period 26–17, but finished two points short.
For Bay Area fans, the next chance to see Golden State close the series comes Friday, Oct. 9. Game 3 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Pacific at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.
