Baltimore answers once
The Orioles’ offense produced only one run Thursday, and Pozo supplied it with a solo home run in the third inning of a 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Baltimore, playing at home, fell behind in the top of the third when Neto homered to center field, a 411-foot drive that scored Meckler and Schanuel and gave Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Pozo homered to left center, a 397-foot shot, trimming the Angels’ lead to 3-1.
Those were the only two home runs in the game, and Baltimore did not add another scoring play.
Angels add on in the seventh
Los Angeles extended the margin in the top of the seventh. Schanuel hit a sacrifice fly to right, bringing in Meckler and moving Trout to third for a 4-1 Angels lead.
The Angels finished with all four of their runs coming from the third and seventh innings. Neto’s homer accounted for three runs, and Schanuel drove in the other run with the sacrifice fly.
For Baltimore, Brandon Young took the loss and moved to 8-3. He allowed six hits and three earned runs in 4.1 innings, with two walks and four strikeouts. Josh Walker followed with 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs with one walk and one strikeout.
