Early Struggles
The Texas Rangers found themselves in an immediate hole on Thursday night at Globe Life Field. In the top of the first inning, the Los Angeles Angels struck first when Grissom singled to left field, driving in Neto to make it 1-0. The Rangers’ offense struggled to generate momentum against the Angels' pitching staff, leaving their starting pitcher, MacKenzie Gore, to manage the damage.
Gore pitched five innings, allowing nine hits and seven earned runs while striking out seven batters. He took the loss, dropping his record to 5-8. The Rangers' bullpen attempted to stabilize the game but could not contain the Angels' surge. Gavin Collyer, Ben Peoples, Robby Ahlstrom, and Kyle Higashioka combined for four innings, but the damage had already been done.
Angels Offense Explodes
The turning point came in the fourth inning when Adell homered to right field, a 359-foot shot that also scored Grissom, extending the Angels' lead to 3-0. The momentum shifted decisively in the fifth inning. Grissom singled to left, scoring Neto to make it 4-0. Shortly after, Adell launched a 433-foot home run to center field, driving in Trout and Grissom to push the score to 7-0.
The Angels continued to pile on runs. In the sixth, Grissom doubled to right field, bringing home Lowe and Neto for a 9-0 advantage. Trout added to the tally in the eighth with a 438-foot home run to left center, scoring Lowe to make it 11-0. Higashioka managed to score a run for Texas in the same inning with a 389-foot home run to left center, making it 11-1.
