Angels’ comeback try stalls as Orioles win 5-2 at Camden Yards

Angels’ push falls short

The Los Angeles Angels cut a three-run deficit to one, but Taveras gave the Baltimore Orioles breathing room with a two-run homer in the eighth inning of a 5-2 Baltimore win on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Los Angeles trailed 3-0 before Siri homered to left center in the sixth inning, a 405-foot drive that made it 3-1. In the seventh, Meckler singled to left and Schanuel scored, pulling the Angels within 3-2.

Baltimore builds the first lead

Baltimore did all of its early scoring in the fourth inning. O'Neill homered to left center, a 426-foot shot that scored Henderson and put the Orioles ahead 2-0. Mayo followed later in the inning with a 436-foot homer to left center, extending the lead to 3-0.

The Orioles added their final runs in the eighth. Taveras homered to right center, a 361-foot drive that brought in Henderson and moved Baltimore ahead 5-2. The game had exactly four home runs: three by Baltimore and one by Los Angeles.

Rogers earns the win

Trevor Rogers earned the win for Baltimore, moving to 7-7. He worked 6.0 innings and allowed three hits, two earned runs and no walks while striking out nine.

The Baltimore bullpen combined for 3.0 innings with one hit, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Alex Hoppe recorded his second hold after 0.2 innings with one hit allowed. Rico Garcia got his 14th hold after 0.1 innings without a hit or walk.

Yennier Cano picked up his 10th hold with 1.0 innings, no hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Andrew Kittredge earned his fifth save with 1.0 innings, no hits, no walks and no strikeouts.

Detmers takes the loss

Reid Detmers took the loss for Los Angeles, falling to 3-8. He allowed four hits and three earned runs over 4.0 innings, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Shaun Anderson worked 2.0 innings for the Angels, allowing one hit with no earned runs, no walks and three strikeouts. Ben Joyce allowed no hits and no earned runs in 1.0 innings, with one walk and one strikeout. Jose Fermin pitched 1.0 innings, allowing one hit and two earned runs while striking out three.

The announced attendance was 16,977. Baltimore improved to 56-58, while Los Angeles fell to 43-71.
