Astros Erase Deficit in Fourth
The Houston Astros overcame an early deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 on Thursday at Daikin Park. The Angels took the lead in the third inning when Yordan Alvarez homered to left field for a distance of 383 feet. That solo shot gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage heading into the middle of the game.
However, the home side responded quickly in the fourth inning. Jose Guzman reached on a double, allowing both Ryan Lowe and Matt Grissom to cross the plate and tie the game at 2-2. The momentum shifted decisively in Houston’s favor as Carlos Alvarado doubled to left, scoring Yordan Alvarez and moving Paredes to third base.
The final run of the game came when Smith hit a sacrifice fly to center, bringing home Paredes for the 3-2 victory.
Pecko Makes Impressive Debut
Ethan Pecko made his major league debut for the Astros, pitching 3.2 innings. He allowed three hits and two earned runs while walking three batters. Pecko recorded four strikeouts during his appearance.
The Astros bullpen provided the necessary support to close out the contest. Bennett Sousa pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one hit with no earned runs and one strikeout. He earned the win in his first start of the season.
AJ Blubaugh followed with one inning of work, allowing one hit and striking out two. Steven Okert pitched one inning, allowing one walk and striking out two. Bryan Abreu handled one inning, striking out two batters without allowing a hit.
