Houston’s offense remained patient against Angels starter Walbert Urena, who pitched six innings and allowed just two hits alongside one earned run and five strikeouts before being pulled. The Astros finally broke through in the fourth inning when Trammell hit a solo home run to center field, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

The Angels built their early advantage in the first three innings. Schanuel drove in Neto with a sacrifice fly to center in the top of the first, followed by Grissom singling home Trout and putting Soler on second.
