Trailing Effort
The Los Angeles Angels found themselves chasing the scoreboard for much of Sunday’s contest, ultimately falling 3-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers at Angel Stadium. Despite a solid start from their pitching staff, the Angels could not overcome a late offensive surge by Milwaukee that sealed the outcome in the final two innings.
The game began with Los Angeles taking an early lead. In the first inning, Shohei Ohtani was not involved in the scoring, but Luis Robert Jr. delivered a key hit. However, the specific scoring play came when Adolis Garcia doubled to left field, allowing Mike Trout to score from first base, giving the home team a 1-0 advantage.
Balanced Pitching
Los Angeles relied on a multi-pitcher effort to keep the game close. Brent Suter started the contest, working two innings without allowing a run but walking three batters. He was followed by Brett Kerry, who pitched four innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out three. Kerry’s outing was critical in keeping the Angels within striking distance through the middle frames.
The Brewers’ offense remained quiet until the fourth inning when Jake Bauers homered to right-center field, a 401-foot shot that tied the game at 1-1. This was the only home run of the game.
Late Inning Collapse
The turning point arrived in the eighth inning. With the score tied, Christian Yelich was not the one to drive in the go-ahead run; instead, Brice Turang singled to center field, allowing Julio Chourio to cross the plate. Milwaukee took a 2-1 lead that would prove decisive.
