Trailing Efforts
The Los Angeles Angels found themselves in a deep hole early and never quite recovered, falling to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 at Angel Stadium on Saturday. Despite a solo home run from Guzman later in the game, the Angels’ offense was stifled by a dominant pitching performance from Milwaukee, leaving them with a record of 42-68.
The Angels’ lone bright spot in terms of power came in the fifth inning when Guzman launched a 385-foot home run to center field. The blast, which also allowed Grissom to score, cut the deficit to 6-2.
However, the damage had already been done by that point, as the Brewers had already established a commanding lead through a massive offensive outburst earlier in the same frame.
Brewers Offensive Surge
Milwaukee’s offense came alive in the fifth inning, exploding for six runs to effectively seal the victory. The inning began with Turang hitting a 398-foot home run to center field, bringing Pratt home to make it 3-0. Immediately following that, Bauers connected on a 424-foot shot to right field, driving in Chourio and Contreras to extend the lead to 6-0.
This three-run homer was the pivotal moment of the game, putting the Angels in a position they could not escape.
Prior to the fifth-inning explosion, the Brewers had taken a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Pratt singled to left field, and Bauers scored on a fielding error by Angels left fielder Siri. Mitchell advanced to second and was safe at third on the same error, setting the stage for the eventual run.
