Skubal’s 11 Ks Lead Dodgers Past Pirates 4-3

Tarik Skubal struck out 11 batters in seven innings as the Dodgers rallied late to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.

Skubal Dominates Early

The Pittsburgh Pirates took an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning to establish a 3-0 advantage. However, Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tarik Skubal responded with a dominant performance, striking out 11 batters over seven innings. Skubal allowed five hits and three earned runs while walking one batter, setting the stage for a late rally.

The Dodgers trailed by one run entering the bottom of the fifth inning, having managed to close the gap from three runs to one in the fourth.

Late Rally Decides It

In the bottom of the fifth, the Dodgers mounted the decisive offensive push. Tucker singled to right field, driving in Mookie Betts and Max Muncy to put Los Angeles ahead 4-3. This was the final run of the game, as the Pirates were unable to answer in the top of the sixth.

The Dodgers’ bullpen secured the win, with Evan Phillips recording the hold in 0.2 innings. Phillips allowed one hit and no earned runs while striking out two batters. Jack Dreyer followed with 0.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out one.

Tanner Scott closed the game with the save, pitching one inning without allowing a hit or an earned run, while striking out one batter.

Pitching and Records

For the Pirates, Jared Jones started the game, pitching four innings while allowing three hits and two earned runs. He walked five batters and struck out five. Yohan Ramirez took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing two hits and two earned runs while striking out two.

Relievers Camilo Doval, Kirby Yates, and Antwone Kelly combined for three scoreless innings. Doval pitched one inning, allowing one hit and striking out two. Yates pitched one inning, allowing one hit, while Kelly pitched one inning, allowing no hits and striking out one.

The victory improved the Dodgers’ record to 79-51, while the Pirates fell to 63-68. Attendance at Dodger Stadium was 53,417.
