Seattle’s Pitching Struggles Continue
The Seattle Mariners found themselves on the wrong side of a lopsided offensive display at Dodger Stadium on Friday, losing 6-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The game was defined early by Los Angeles’ ability to capitalize on opportunities, while Seattle’s bullpen could not contain the Dodgers’ lineup after starter Bryan Woo departed the game.
Woo took the loss, falling to 7-8 on the season. He pitched five innings but allowed five runs, all earned, on five hits. The Mariners’ offense managed only two runs in total, with their first offensive spark coming in the sixth inning when Randy Arozarena doubled to left, scoring Ty France.
A walk to Cal Raleigh later in the frame allowed Arozarena to score again, briefly bringing the Mariners within four runs.
Dodgers’ Power Surge Defines Game
Los Angeles jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Mookie Betts doubled to left, driving in two runs to make it 2-0. The Dodgers’ offense exploded in the fourth inning, extending their lead to 5-0 when Chris Taylor homered to right, a 400-foot shot that also brought in Will Smith and Teoscar Hernández.
This three-run blast proved to be the decisive blow of the game.
Teoscar Hernández added another home run in the sixth inning, launching a 412-foot shot to center field to make the score 6-2. The Dodgers’ pitching staff held firm in the final innings, with relievers Jack Dreyer, Edgardo Henriquez, Tanner Scott, and Edwin Diaz combining to shut down Seattle’s lineup. Dreyer earned the save, improving his record to 7-0.
