Early Dodgers lead
Los Angeles opened Tuesday, August 4, 2026, with a quick three-run lead at Wrigley Field, but Chicago answered with steady power and late separation in a 10-5 win over the Dodgers.
Edman homered to left in the first inning, a 394-foot drive that scored Ohtani and Pages for a 3-0 Los Angeles lead. The Cubs responded in the bottom half when Suzuki homered to left center, a 367-foot shot that brought in Crow-Armstrong and cut the Dodgers’ lead to 3-2.
Cubs take control
Chicago moved in front in the second inning. Alcántara homered to left center, a 392-foot drive that scored Swanson and put the Cubs ahead 4-3.
The Cubs added two more in the third when C. Kelly homered to left, a 394-foot drive with Bregman aboard, extending Chicago’s lead to 6-3. Los Angeles got a run back in the fourth when Alfonzo singled to center and Tucker scored on a fielding error by center fielder Crow-Armstrong, with T. Hernández moving to second.
Busch homered to left center in the fifth, a 381-foot drive that made it 7-4 Chicago.
Sixth-inning separation
T. Hernández homered to left center in the sixth, a 443-foot drive that brought Los Angeles within 7-5. Chicago answered again in the bottom of the inning.
C. Kelly walked with the bases loaded, scoring Happ, moving Suzuki to second and Crow-Armstrong to third after a Chicago challenge overturned the call on the field. Busch followed with a single to right on a play that scored Crow-Armstrong and Suzuki, with Suzuki scoring on an error.
Busch was safe at second on a throwing error by right fielder Tucker, and C. Kelly was safe at third on the error.
Pitching and records
Matthew Boyd earned the win for Chicago, allowing nine hits and four earned runs over 6.2 innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Trent Thornton pitched 1.1 innings with no hits, no walks and one strikeout, and Jake Woodford pitched one inning with one hit allowed and no strikeouts.
Justin Wrobleski took the loss for Los Angeles after allowing seven hits and seven earned runs over 4.1 innings, with three walks and four strikeouts. The Cubs improved to 64-49, and the Dodgers fell to 69-44. Attendance was 39,384.
