Kings drop a close one at home

The Los Angeles Kings lost 2-1 to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The defeat leaves the Kings at 0-2-1 with one point through three games, while the Panthers improved to 2-0-2 with six points. Attendance was 18,145.

Kings strike first

Los Angeles opened the scoring in the first period. Alex Laferriere scored his first goal of the season on a wrist shot, with the assist going to Erik Haula, for a 1-0 lead that held through the opening 20 minutes.

Panthers answer in the second

Florida tied the game in the second period when Seth Jones scored his first goal of the season on a wrist shot, assisted by Lars Eller. The teams went to the third period tied 1-1.

Tkachuk scores the winner

Matthew Tkachuk put the Panthers ahead in the third period with a wrist shot, his second goal of the season, assisted by Sam Bennett. The Kings could not find an equalizer, and Florida held on for the 2-1 win.
