A Saratoga resident has reported a series of financial losses and property crimes occurring in late June, with total damages exceeding $32,000. The incidents include two separate cases of identity theft and a vehicle burglary.
On June 24, the resident reported that an individual used their personal information to open a new credit card account. The suspect then made fraudulent purchases on the account, resulting in a loss of approximately $23,100. On the same day, at 3:12 a.m., someone broke the window of a vehicle parked in the 13000 block of Quito Road. The thief stole a cell phone and a wallet, causing a loss valued at approximately $1,300.
A second identity theft incident was reported on June 27. The resident stated that a check mailed to them was intercepted and never received. Another individual used the victim's personal identifying information to cash the check, resulting in a loss of approximately $7,629.
In a separate matter reported on June 22, the resident indicated that they received harassing electronic communications between May 17 and June 1. Authorities have identified the suspect in this case. The file is currently being submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
