A Sixth-Inning Explosion Shifts Momentum
The Arizona Diamondbacks found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard Thursday night as the San Francisco Giants mounted a decisive rally to secure a 6-4 victory at Chase Field. The win improves San Francisco’s record to 36-50, while Arizona falls to .500 at 43-43.
The game remained tightly contested through the first five innings, with the Diamondbacks holding a slim 3-0 advantage. The offense began to stir in the fifth when Ramos launched a 427-foot home run to center field, cutting the deficit to 3-1. The lead did not last long, however, as Bericoto followed with a 422-foot shot to left-center, driving in Lee to extend Arizona’s margin to 3-0.
Giants Take Control in the Bottom of the Sixth
San Francisco’s offense erupted in the bottom of the sixth inning, tallying six runs to completely overturn the game’s trajectory. The inning began with Ramos triple to center field, which was upheld after an umpire review, allowing Devers to cross the plate for a 4-3 score. Lee then singled to right, bringing Ramos home to make it 5-3. The damage continued as Cavanaugh singled to center, scoring Lee and advancing Bericoto to third base, pushing the lead to 6-3.
The Diamondbacks’ bullpen struggled to contain the Giants’ momentum. Ryan Walker entered the game but allowed four hits and four earned runs in just 0.0 innings pitched. Despite the defensive lapse, the Giants’ starting pitcher, Trevor McDonald, had been stellar, allowing only one hit over 6.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts to earn the win.
