Webb keeps Rangers scoreless for six innings as Giants win 5-1

Rangers fall behind early

The Texas Rangers spent most of Tuesday, August 4, 2026, chasing a deficit and never caught the San Francisco Giants in a 5-1 loss at Globe Life Field before 23,736.

Logan Webb led the Giants, working six scoreless innings. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out eight, earning the win to move to 7-7. Texas did not score until the ninth inning, after San Francisco had built a five-run lead.

San Francisco opened the scoring in the top of the second. Gilbert singled to right, and Susac scored on a fielding error by right fielder Nimmo as Gilbert advanced to third. Basabe followed with a sacrifice fly to right that brought in Gilbert for a 2-0 Giants lead.

Lee adds power for San Francisco

The Giants made it 3-0 in the top of the third when Lee homered to right center, a 410-foot drive. That was the only earned run charged to Cal Quantrill, whose line was six innings, four hits, one earned run, one walk and four strikeouts. Quantrill took the loss, falling to 4-4.

Lee homered again in the eighth, sending a 385-foot shot to right center to stretch San Francisco’s lead to 4-0. In the ninth, Lee added a sacrifice fly to center that scored McCray and made it 5-0.

Texas got its run in the bottom of the ninth when Duran homered to left, a 406-foot drive, cutting the final margin to 5-1.

Bullpens and records

After Webb, Keaton Winn pitched two-thirds of an inning for San Francisco, allowing one hit with no walks and one strikeout for his 12th hold. Sam Hentges followed with 1 1/3 innings, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out one for his seventh hold. Tristan Beck allowed one hit, one earned run and one walk in one-third of an inning. Reiver Sanmartin worked two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit or walk.

For Texas, Ben Peoples pitched one inning with no hits allowed, one walk and one strikeout. Peyton Gray allowed one hit, one earned run and one walk in one inning. Nolan Kingham allowed one hit, one earned run and two walks while striking out one in one inning.

The Rangers fell to 55-58. The Giants improved to 48-65.
