Late Inning Surge Defines Outcome
The Minnesota Twins overcame an early deficit to defeat the San Francisco Giants 4-2 on Wednesday. The game remained tight through the middle frames before a pair of hits in the seventh inning provided the decisive margin for the visiting club.
Minnesota took the lead in the third inning when Keaschall launched a home run to left field, measuring 381 feet. The blast gave the Twins a 1-0 advantage that held until the fourth inning. In that frame, San Francisco responded with a two-run rally triggered by Whitcomb’s single to right field. The hit drove in Davidson and Knizner, putting the home team ahead 2-1.
The score was knotted at 2-2 in the fifth inning when Keaschall delivered a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Ross to cross the plate for Minnesota. Neither team could break the tie until the seventh inning, where Walker Jenkins provided the spark with a pinch-hit single to right field that scored Clemens.
Jenkins advanced to second base and later came around to score on Bell’s single to center field, giving Minnesota a 4-2 lead.
