A Hard-Fought Start
The San Jose Sharks hosted the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and the teams traded goals in the opening period. The visitors struck first when Fraser Minten capitalized on a wrist shot, assisted by Casey Mittelstadt and Nikita Zadorov, to take a 1-0 lead.
San Jose responded quickly. Jacob Trouba leveled the score with a slap shot, supported by assists from Kiefer Sherwood and Dmitry Orlov. However, Boston reclaimed the advantage before the period ended when Charlie McAvoy found the back of the net with a wrist shot, aided by JJ Peterka. The first period concluded with the Bruins holding a 2-1 edge.
Second Period Surge
The Sharks appeared to reset their momentum early in the second frame. Ivar Stenberg tied the game at 2-2 with a wrist shot, assisted by Macklin Celebrini and Dmitry Orlov. But Boston’s offense proved too potent to contain for long. Matthew Poitras restored the lead with a tip-in goal, powered by assists from Mark Kastelic and Morgan Geekie.
Boston extended the lead late in the period when Pavel Zacha scored on a wrist shot, with Morgan Geekie recording his second assist of the contest and David Pastrnak adding another helper. By the time the second period expired, the Bruins had established a commanding 4-2 advantage.
