Sharks Shut Out 5-0 in Dallas for First Loss of the Season

The San Jose Sharks took their first loss of the season Monday, falling 5-0 to the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center as Jake Oettinger stopped all 13 San Jose shots.

A Blank Slate for the Visitors

The San Jose Sharks arrived in Dallas unbeaten after two overtime wins at home, over Florida and Los Angeles. They left with their first loss of the season, falling 5-0 to the Dallas Stars on Monday night at American Airlines Center.

San Jose put 13 shots on goal, and Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped all of them. Sharks goaltender Yaroslav Askarov made 21 saves on 26 shots. Dallas led after the first period and never gave up the lead.

Early Lead Sets the Tone

Dallas struck first in the opening period, capitalizing on sustained pressure to take a 1-0 lead. Miro Heiskanen found the back of the net with a deft backhand shot, his second goal of the season. Roope Hintz and Jamie Benn assisted on the goal.

The scoring drought for San Jose continued into the second period, where Dallas doubled its advantage. Joel Kiviranta extended the lead to 2-0 with a sharp snap shot. Oskar Bäck and Radek Faksa assisted.

Stars Flood the Column

The second period belonged to Dallas. Jamie Benn added another tally, making it 3-0 with a snap shot of his own. Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz assisted, giving Hintz his second assist of the night.

Dallas did not stop there. Later in the period, Jason Robertson scored his first goal of the campaign, a wrist shot that made it 4-0. No assist was credited on Robertson's goal.

Closing Out the Contest

Mikko Rantanen completed the scoring for Dallas in the third period, adding a wrist shot assisted by Sam Steel to make it 5-0. It was the first win of the season for Dallas.

San Jose drops to 2-1-0 with 4 points, while Dallas improves to 1-2-0 with 2 points.
