Sharks Answer Late

Macklin Celebrini scored San Jose’s only goal, but the Sharks fell 3-1 to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026. Celebrini’s wrist shot in the third period cut Edmonton’s lead to two, with Michael Misa assisting, but San Jose could not complete the comeback.

The Sharks were the home team at SAP Center, where the announced attendance was 17,435. The loss left San Jose with a 3-2-0 record and six points.

Edmonton Builds the Lead

Edmonton opened the scoring in the first period. Mattias Ekholm made it 1-0 with a slap shot, assisted by Isaac Howard and Josh Samanski. That remained the score through the end of the opening period.

Neither team scored in the second period, sending the game to the third with the Oilers still ahead by one. San Jose had not yet found the net, while Edmonton carried its narrow advantage into the final period.

Oilers Pull Away

Vasily Podkolzin extended Edmonton’s lead to 2-0 in the third period on a slap shot. Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard assisted on the goal.

Alex Formenton then made it 3-0 with a backhand. Mathieu Joseph and Connor Murphy assisted on the play. Celebrini answered for San Jose afterward, scoring the Sharks’ first goal, but Edmonton held on for the 3-1 final.

Ekholm led Edmonton’s listed scoring with one goal and one point. Celebrini recorded one goal and one point for San Jose, while Misa was credited with one assist. Bouchard also was credited with an assist on Podkolzin’s goal.

The victory moved Edmonton to 4-0-1 and nine points after the game. San Jose’s record stood at 3-2-0 with six points.
