KhaDarel Hodge has been added to the San Francisco 49ers’ 53-man roster, creating another opportunity for the 31-year-old receiver to continue his NFL career. The team could use him on offense and special teams while rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling recovers from surgery that is expected to keep him out about 2 1/2 months.
Tight end Jake Tonges also has undergone surgery, though the 49ers did not provide further details.
Hodge entered the league as an undrafted player from Prairie View A&M in 2018. He started with the Los Angeles Rams and later played for Cleveland, Detroit and Atlanta, where he spent the past four seasons. He was selected to the NFC Pro Bowl team in 2024 for his special-teams work.
Across 119 games, including 10 starts, Hodge has 67 receptions for 1,026 yards and two touchdowns. San Francisco’s active receivers also include Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins.
Hodge told NBC Sports Bay Area that he has continually had to compete for a roster spot, saying, “Enough is never enough.” He grew up in D’Lo, Mississippi, 30 miles south of Jackson, and said his career has helped him support his family and serve as an example for young people there.
