Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that wide receiver Ladd McConkey is day-to-day with a rib injury. McConkey left in the third quarter of Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals after linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. hit him while he tried to make a catch over the middle. He appeared to be in significant pain and did not return.
McConkey had five receptions for 82 yards. The Chargers held a two-point deficit when he exited, then went without a score on their last four possessions. Those drives featured several penalties. Justin Herbert was sacked twice after being brought down three times overall. Herbert said after the game that McConkey had made several plays and that he hoped the receiver recovered soon.
Harbaugh also identified safety Elijah Molden as day-to-day with a hamstring injury. Wide receiver Derius Davis is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, while wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith is expected to miss time because of a hamstring injury. The absences may give rookie receiver Brenen Thompson a larger opportunity.
Thompson played 10 offensive snaps Sunday without a target. He was the fastest receiver at the NFL scouting combine, recording a 4.26-second 40-yard dash, and had 1,054 receiving yards for Mississippi State last season, which led the Southeastern Conference. ABC30 Fresno reported the updates.
