The San Francisco 49ers are expected to use five wide receivers against the Miami Dolphins: Mike Evans, Demarcus Robinson, Deebo Samuel, Khadarel Hodge and Jacob Cowing. Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated the group was also used in Week 1. Jordan Watkins is expected to be inactive for a second straight game, although the length of that arrangement is unclear.
Stribling was placed on injured reserve because of an ankle injury. Shanahan previously said the wide receiver is expected to miss nearly 10 weeks. Hodge was added to the active roster earlier this week after being elevated for the season opener while Watkins was unavailable.
San Francisco also added defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to its active roster before Week 2. He had previously been elevated from the practice squad for the game against the Los Angeles Rams, playing 30% of the defensive snaps as the 49ers managed injuries along the defensive line.
The team used nine defensive linemen in its Week 1 rotation, and Okoronkwo is expected to have a comparable role against Miami.
Kicker Eddy Piniero and running back Kaelon Black were questionable entering Week 2. The 49ers tried out kickers Greg Joseph and Younghoe Koo but signed neither, and they did not elevate a running back. Black had been limited in practice because of a groin injury.
