Ladd McConkey left the Los Angeles Chargers' Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals with a chest injury after making five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. He was the Chargers' top receiver when he departed and was listed as questionable to return, but he did not go back into the game.

The injury occurred on a catch over the middle, when Cardinals linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. made contact with McConkey. McConkey reached toward his back, received attention from Chargers medical staff, then walked to the blue medical tent under his own power. He later left the tent for the locker room.

Coach Jim Harbaugh did not provide an update after the game. Quarterback Justin Herbert said losing McConkey was difficult, while expressing hope for the best and crediting the players who stepped in and needed to make plays.

Tre' Harris is listed behind McConkey. Harris, a 2025 second-round pick, recorded 30 receptions for 324 yards and one touchdown as a rookie. Quentin Johnston and Harris would likely see more targets if McConkey misses time, with Brenen Thompson potentially serving in a situational role. The report was published by usatoday.com.
