Ladd McConkey caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown before a rib injury interrupted the Los Angeles Chargers' 26-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. His status for the Week 2 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders has not been determined.
McConkey was injured while reaching for a pass over the middle. Mack Wilson Sr. of Arizona made contact with McConkey's back, and the receiver remained on the field before making his way to the sideline on his own. He was evaluated in the medical tent, then went to the locker room and did not return.
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported that McConkey will be monitored during the week. The Chargers had not released an official update, and coach Jim Harbaugh offered no condition report after the game. Quarterback Justin Herbert said he hoped McConkey would recover and that the team would turn to other players if necessary.
Joshua Palmer and Derius Davis played the most snaps among the remaining receivers against Arizona. Palmer caught two passes for 17 yards, while Davis had three receptions for 20 yards. Quentin Johnston and Brenden Rice each played 10 offensive snaps but had no catches.
Tre Harris also hurt his hamstring in the opener and may be unavailable in Week 2. Gary Jennings or Theo Wease Jr. could provide added depth if Harris cannot play.
