The Rams placed edge rusher Myles Garrett on injured reserve Thursday, sidelining him for at least four games. The team had not made a corresponding roster move when the report was published, so players already under contract were expected to cover the vacancy for Monday’s matchup with the New York Giants.
Coach Sean McVay said Wesley Bailey would be part of that effort, with duties on special teams and roles that could change based on the Rams’ formations. The undrafted rookie from Louisville appeared on two special-teams plays in the opener against the San Francisco 49ers and could receive his first defensive action after a strong training camp. Ty Simpson, Max Klare and C.J.
Daniels were projected not to play that week, while third-round offensive tackle Keagen Trost was on injured reserve.
Bailey, a Canadian edge rusher, is just below 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 260 pounds. His pro-day testing included a 10-foot-plus broad jump, a 35-inch vertical and a 4.69-second 40-yard dash. He played six college seasons, spending five at Rutgers before transferring to Louisville, and totaled 15.5 sacks.
The CFL’s second-round selection went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft before the Rams kept him on their 53-man roster. Byron Young remains in the starting group, Josaiah Stewart is expected to receive additional starts after six tackles in Week 1, and Desjuan Johnson played 15 snaps. A call-up such as Jamie Sheriff was also possible, but Bailey’s workload against New York was unsettled.
