Hayden Rucci is joining the Chargers’ active roster after the team placed tight ends Charlie Kolar and David Njoku on injured reserve. The Chargers also released wide receiver Gary Jennings, according to Yahoo Sports, which did not provide further details about Jennings’ departure.
Rucci and Oronde Gadsden II were the team’s only tight ends listed on the roster as of Wednesday. Rucci played at Wisconsin, finishing his college career with 17 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown.
He appeared in four NFL games for Miami in 2025 and logged 39 snaps. Twenty-nine of those plays came as a run blocker, a role for which he received a season grade of 56.6.
Rucci measured 6 feet 5 inches and 247 pounds at the NFL scouting combine. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.04 seconds, recorded a 32-inch vertical jump and completed the short shuttle in 4.40 seconds.
