Puka Nacua’s availability remains doubtful for the Los Angeles Rams’ Week 3 matchup with Denver, after he missed the team’s previous game. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said he would be surprised if the receiver takes the field. Turf Show Times cited the reporting.
Coach Sean McVay said Nacua has not made great progress, though the Rams do not consider the issue long term. McVay said Nacua could return if available and voiced trust in the players who would fill his role.
Davante Adams posted strong numbers during Nacua’s last absence. Tight end Terrance Ferguson also supplied some of the type of contested catches and yards after the catch that Nacua has delivered in his career. Ferguson had a nine-yard reception and a five-yard touchdown catch on the same drive, according to Rams reporting.
Nacua was cleared for the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. He caught five of nine targets for 74 yards in the Rams’ 27-7 defeat. The Week 3 game is scheduled for Sunday night, and no additional availability details were provided.
