Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday that four injured players were doing well after the team’s 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The group included safety Kam Curl, linebackers Nate Landman and Omar Speights, and tight end Davis Allen.
Curl experienced ankle soreness and exited in the second half after being listed as questionable to return. Jaylen McCollough filled in and made two tackles before also leaving. Curl played every game last season, starting 17 times and taking part in 99% of Los Angeles’ defensive snaps. He also signed a $36 million extension during the offseason.
Landman appeared to hurt his shoulder and thumb on a fourth-quarter play with Christian McCaffrey. McVay said the Rams plan to be careful with him in practice but anticipate that he will play against the New York Giants on Sept. 21. Speights left during the first half with a hip injury, returned in the second quarter and had been replaced by Shaun Dolac.
Allen underwent a concussion evaluation after a third-quarter hit and briefly showing a fencing response. He went to the medical tent and locker room, then returned. The Rams did not provide more information about practice participation.
