Hayden Rucci’s college career included 29 games at Wisconsin, and he is now joining the Los Angeles Chargers’ active roster. The team announced Sept. 22 that it brought the tight end over from the Jacksonville practice squad while waiving wide receiver Gary Jennings in a related move.
Rucci played four seasons for Wisconsin from 2020 to 2023 after redshirting in 2019. He made 18 starts, totaling 17 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown. He entered the NFL in 2024 as an undrafted free agent who signed with the Miami Dolphins.
Miami used Rucci in four games in 2025, when he recorded a special-teams tackle. Near the close of last season, he also spent time with the Detroit Lions. The San Francisco 49ers had him on their roster during the offseason.
