Saratoga’s Parks & Recreation Commission will lead a community hike on the Zinfandel Trail on Saturday, Oct. 17, with participants meeting at Picchetti Ranch Preserve in Cupertino.

The city asks hikers to arrive at 7:50 a.m. at the parking lot at 13100 Montebello Road. The hike begins at 8 a.m., and the calendar reserves two hours for the outing. Times are Pacific.

The planned route is a 4.1-mile out-and-back hike, described in the city notice as moderately challenging. Participants are directed to register and complete a liability waiver through the link on the official event page.

The preserve is managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. Its rules prohibit bicycles and pet dogs; service dogs are accommodated where public access is allowed. Midpen advises visitors to bring water and check trail conditions before leaving.
