Stanford had an opening to take the first set from No. 3 Louisville on Sunday. Losing that opening proved costly in a 3–0 road defeat.

The No. 14 Cardinal built a 16–11 lead during the opening set and still led 23–22 late. Louisville won the next three points, then took the second set 25–18 and used an 8–1 run to take control of the third.

Stanford finished its road weekend with a split and stands at 10–6 overall and 3–3 in the ACC. Lizzy Andrew led the team with 11 kills, while Julia Blyashov and Spencer Etzler each recorded 13 digs.

For Saratoga residents planning to watch the nearby program, the Cardinal returns to Maples Pavilion this week. Wake Forest visits Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m. Pacific, followed by NC State on Sunday, October 18, at 1 p.m. Both matches are scheduled for ACC Network Extra.
