Washington's Early Lead

The Washington Nationals started with momentum, taking a 3-0 advantage in the first inning. Wilson opened the scoring with a 411-foot home run to left field. The rally continued as Cortes doubled to center, allowing Soderstrom to score.

Kuroda-Grauer followed with a double to right, bringing Cortes home. Heim singled to center, scoring Kuroda-Grauer, and Butler grounded into a fielder's choice to second, which allowed Walton to cross the plate. In the second inning, Kuroda-Grauer grounded into another fielder's choice, but Wilson managed to score, making it 6-0.
