Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.4190 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 2, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.4320 yesterday. That is down from $5.5500 a week ago and lower than $6.0290 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.4010, while the national average is $3.8380. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its recorded high of $6.5490, set on June 13, 2022. Regular prices are about 61 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.6110, drivers are paying about 81 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $6.5720 per gallon, AAA reported.
