The statewide average in California stands at $5.3890, while the national average is $3.8230. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 61 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.6030, drivers are paying about 81 cents more per gallon.
