Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.4060 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 4, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.4080 yesterday. That is down from $5.4930 a week ago and lower than $6.0150 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.3810, while the national average is $3.8100. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 61 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5930, drivers are paying about 81 cents more per gallon.
