Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.3970 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 9, 2026, according to AAA, up from $5.3930 yesterday. That is down from $5.4190 a week ago and lower than $5.8910 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.3830, while the national average is $3.8460. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 49 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5600, drivers are paying about 84 cents more per gallon.
