Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.4990 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 19, 2026, according to AAA, up from $5.4710 yesterday. That is up from $5.4030 a week ago but lower than $5.6400 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.4830, while the national average is $3.9980. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 14 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5020, drivers are paying about 100 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $6.6780 per gallon, AAA reported.
