Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.5700 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 23, 2026, according to AAA, up from $5.5430 yesterday. That is up from $5.4090 a week ago but lower than $5.5960 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.5710, while the national average is $4.0910. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 3 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.4800, drivers are paying about 109 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $6.7740 per gallon, AAA reported.
