Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.6330 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 28, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.6380 yesterday. That is up from $5.5170 a week ago but higher than $5.4880 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.6470, while the national average is $4.0990. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 14 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.4650, drivers are paying about 117 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $6.8590 per gallon, AAA reported.
