Saratoga, California — Gas prices in the San Jose area averaged $5.6290 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 29, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.6330 yesterday. That is up from $5.5430 a week ago but higher than $5.4820 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.6460, while the national average is $4.0910. Drivers in the San Jose area are paying below the state average and above the national average.
The San Jose average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5490. Regular prices are about 15 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.4680, drivers are paying about 116 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the San Jose area averages $6.8400 per gallon, AAA reported.
